Your data, handled plainly.
We collect the minimum we need to run the Patna waitlist, we tell you exactly what we do with it, and we never sell it. This page explains all of it in language you can actually read.
The short version
Here’s the honest summary. The full detail is below, but this is what it comes down to:
- We collect your name, business email, company, industry, role and location β the fields on the waitlist form
- We use them for one thing: telling you about Patna and getting you onto the platform at launch
- We never sell your data and we never pass it to advertisers
- Your email sits with Brevo (our email provider) and your record in our own database β nowhere else
- You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete everything we hold, any time, by email
What we collect and why
This policy covers joinpatna.com and the Patna waitlist. It is written to meet our obligations under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
Who we are
Patna β “Africa’s Business Collaboration OS” β is a business registered in Nigeria. When this policy says “we” or “us”, that is who we mean.
For anything in this policy, you can reach us at hello@joinpatna.com. A real person on the founding team reads it.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect only what the form asks for:
- Your full name and business email address
- Your company name
- Your industry and your role at the business
- Your city and country
- A phone number, only if you choose to give one
- A referral code, if you arrived through someone's referral link
- The date and time you signed up
What we do with it
We use your information for a short, specific list of things:
- Sending you the confirmation email and your Founding Member details
- Telling you when Patna launches and giving you access
- Sending build updates about the platform you signed up for
- Understanding which industries and countries are represented, so we build the right thing
- Checking Founding Member and Innovators Fund eligibility when those open
What we never do
We do not sell your data. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to advertisers or data brokers. We do not add you to lists you did not join.
We do not use your business information to compete with you or to approach your customers.
Where your data lives
Your signup is stored in a dedicated database on our hosting, kept separate from the website’s own database.
Your name and email are also held by Brevo, the email platform that delivers our messages. Brevo processes this on our instructions only and under their own data protection commitments.
That is the full list. No other third party receives your waitlist information.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist record for as long as the waitlist is active and for as long as you remain a member of Patna.
If you ask us to delete it, we remove it from our database and from Brevo, and we confirm to you once it is done. We may keep a minimal record of the deletion request itself, because we are required to show that we honoured it.
Your rights
Under the NDPA you have clear rights over your information, and we honour all of them:
- Access β ask us for a copy of everything we hold about you
- Correction β have anything inaccurate fixed
- Deletion β have your record removed entirely
- Withdraw consent β unsubscribe or ask us to stop contacting you at any time
- Portability β receive your data in a readable file you can take elsewhere
- Complain β raise a concern with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if we get it wrong
How to exercise them
Email hello@joinpatna.com from the address you signed up with and tell us what you want done. We respond within 7 days and complete most requests the same week β no forms, no runaround.
Every marketing email we send also carries a one-click unsubscribe link.
Security
Your data is transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), stored on access-controlled hosting, and reachable by only the small number of people who need it to run the waitlist.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you and notify the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the law requires.
Cookies and analytics
The website uses essential cookies needed for pages to function, and basic analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they read.
We do not run advertising trackers and we do not build advertising profiles from your visit. You can block cookies in your browser settings without losing access to the waitlist.
Children
Patna is a platform for registered businesses and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will remove the record.
Changes to this policy
As Patna grows from a waitlist into a full platform, this policy will be updated to match what the product actually does.
When we make a material change, we will update the date on this page and tell waitlist members by email. We will not quietly broaden what we do with your data and hope nobody notices.
Ask us anything about
your data.
If something here is unclear, or you want to know exactly what we hold about you, write to us. We would rather answer a hard question than leave you guessing.
